Recently XONITEK organized  its 3rd Annual EU Operational Excellence Summit whose theme was “A Frictionless World”. This year, the Summits took place in the early part of June with venues in Budapest Hungary and Milan Italy.

The speaker line-up was outstanding!  Each event featured a Keynote Speaker who was a demonstrated champion of Operational Excellence (Lean, Six-Sigma and Leadership) from a regional industrial steward of Continuous Improvement.  The Keynote speaker was followed by learned and seasoned experts in the field and concluded with a panel discussion.

During the Summit speakers and participants shared their lessons learned so the same mistakes would not have to be repeated and good practices could be replicated.  As a leader, Lean professional or someone responsible for organizational change you have to be aware of new thinking and initiatives out there and we hope that our Summit discussions have helped you with this.

For myself and the XONITEK team, it has certainly been a very insightful experience to meet the local champions of Continuous Improvement initiatives and to be able to complement the events with some provocative speakers and moderated discussions. The formula for both conferences in Budapest and Milan was to give participants an opportunity to share best practices and take some inspiration from different industries operating on similar principles. That is why we had representatives of the manufacturing, finance, HR and other services in the room and spekers from GE Capital, Robert Bosch Ltd, Siemens, K&H Bank, Google Inc., The Corps Group and PCC.

Carey Lohrenz, Vice President of The Corps Group shared with us the secrets of high performing organizations and  how to achieve dramatic and sustainable results in them.

The members of Academia were also present among us. Dan Bumblauskas, Professor from the University of Missouri, and Paul Lacourbe, Associate Professor from CEU Business School,  gave us a new perspective on how universities contribute to CI in organizations and how joint initiatives of industry and schools result in better educated young people as well as fresh ideas being transferred to companies.

Our speakers and participants were very experienced Lean professionals who were responsible for global OpEx programs. They’ve expressed an interest in showing their production facility and sharing their best practices with invited guests. Perhaps this is an opportunity to tighten the links among Lean professionals and make the learning even more focused. Hence the idea of our next events which will be dedicated to specific industries or challenges. They will have a form of workshops hosted by a Lean/OpEx  team inviting others to their facility and XONITEK’s  role will be to moderate the learning process, record the lessons learned and share it with a wider audience.  Please let us know what your TEAM thinks about it. Would you like to invite us and learn together?
