Paris Presentation Challenges Local Leaders to Rethink Business Management
Johnson City, New York (March 14, 2006): Members of the Southern Tier Opportunity Coalition (STOC) preparing for a routine Networking Café last evening at Traditions at the Glen in Johnson City, NY, were surprised to find themselves in the company of a very atypical guest speaker. With their complete attention, XONITEK President Joe Paris used his time at the podium as an opportunity to illuminate the “path of excellence” to the community leaders via an increased awareness and optimization of business process management.
Paris’ presentation, entitled, “Brewster’s Millions Redux: How to Give Away all your Cash and Get Nothing of Value in Return,” not only challenged his audience to reexamine the traditional business model, but emphasized the vital need to regularly readdress the priorities of a business to ensure its progression and growth. Within the context of his argument, Paris discussed pitfalls of the traditional management structure, including: the existence of information gaps, the process of solving simple problems with complicated solutions, redundancy, thrift, politics and fear. Paris expounded on the latter as a rich source of corporate collapse: the failure to turn thought into action for fear of imperfection.
Paris’ lecture also stressed that every difficulty yielded new possibility, and that the key to creating or maintaining evolvement in business was to consistently recognize and act on the opportunity. “Within the pitfalls,” Paris explained, “executives must recognize that effecting action through proactive, strategic change yields infinite possibility. We must recognize that our ‘knowledge’ is both our greatest and most misused asset, and actively work to optimize that asset to the best of our ability.”
John Hayek, Executive Director of the STOC, remarked that Paris’ presentation was “stimulating, thought provoking, and at the same time most entertaining. XONITEK is a hidden gem in the Southern Tier. We are fortunate to have a world class organization available as a local resource, and we’re delighted to have Joe as a STOC member.”
Established in 2002, the Southern Tier Opportunity Coalition (STOC) is a non profit organization dedicated to assisting in the creation and development of new and existing professional relationships. The Networking Café, a monthly event hosted by the STOC at Traditions, promotes dynamic networking potential for the business leaders of New York’s Southern Tier. XONITEK has been a respective member since 2005.
